The first Togo-European Union Economic Forum will take place on 13 and 14 June in Lomé.
‘Building sustainable and lasting economic relations between Togo and the EU’ is the theme of this meeting, the details of which were presented on 12 February 2019 at a two-party meeting.
The meeting was chaired by the Prime Minister, who was accompanied by the Head of State’s Cabinet Director, the Secretary General of the Presidency and the Minister of Commerce. On the European side, there was the presence of an EU representative in Lomé and the French and German ambassadors.
During the presentation, the experts acknowledged that foreign investment in Togo was too low (147 million dollars in 2017) and insufficient domestic investment.
The idea behind this Forum is precisely to promote the country as an accessible, sustainable and secure destination and to stimulate European investment.
In particular towards the priority projects contained in the National Development Plan (PND). In the field of energy, infrastructure, and agribusiness.
The organizers expect about 400 participants, including 300 European entrepreneurs.
The project is led by the Business Climate Unit attached to the Presidency of the Republic.
