(Official Togo) – Visiting Abu Dhabi from 11 to 13 January 2019, where he represented Togo at the 9th General Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA), the Director General of Energy, Aboulaye Abbas invited partners and investors to support the country’s projects in this area. This is to achieve the goals of SE4ALL (Sustainable Energy for All).

During his speech, the energy director first reminded the participants of the efforts made by Togo in its march towards access to energy for all, and in the promotion of renewable energies in particular. These include the CIZO presidential project or the establishment of a national electrification strategy.

“The government has embarked on an ambitious electrification program that has increased the access rate from 20% in 2010 to 40% by 2017, and aims to provide access for all to energy services by 2030”, said Aboulaye Abbas.

This high-level meeting, completed yesterday, resulted in, among other things, the granting of a $ 15 million financing to Togo, for the construction of a solar power plant, as part of the 6th round of financing of IRENA.
